Salsa Shoes – How to Care for Salsa Shoes
Salsa shoes, like any other shoe, are subject to wear and tear. In order to extend the life of your shoes and get the most out of them, you need to provide them with proper care. This will help you extend the life of your shoes and save you some money in the long run. If you take good care of your shoes, they will last a long time. You don’t want to keep buying new shoes after just a few months. Following these care tips can help you get the most out of them:
Reserve dance shoes for dancing only
Dance shoes are not used for street wear or everyday wear. The shoes are not made for continuous use off the dance floor. Using them daily at work or play can expose them to a number of harsh elements that can take a toll on the shoe.
Salsa shoes are handcrafted from split leather. This means that special care and effort has been taken into crafting dance shoes to ensure they perform properly. They can give you balance when dancing. The leather used is lighter than normal shoes. Wearing street shoes can put undue stress on lighter materials. Rough floors or pavement and wet weather can easily damage shoes.
Dance shoes often have a nap surface that will enable you to dance better on the floor. If you use it on the streets, dirt may get into the nap of the shoe. If you must wear your dancing shoes outside, clean them with a steel brush. The brush strokes should align with the nap. If the surface is not restored to normal, you should brush in the opposite direction of the nap.
Ventilate the shoes after use
Dance shoes should be allowed to breathe on their own for at least fifteen minutes before being stored in the room. This will allow the sweat to dry. Sweat is an enemy of leather or suede because it can make it stiffer if allowed to stick to the material. The storage temperature of dance shoes should be 18 degrees.
Do not use direct sunlight, dryer or cooler to dry wet shoes. This will make it easy to wear. Instead, let them dry at room temperature, usually for 24 hours. This means that you should not use the shoes for the next 24 hours until they are completely dry.
For suede care, apply your regular shoe leather cream. Once the shoe has absorbed your skin cream, apply shoe spread cream to it. Do not use shoe polish.
Rub the shoes with a soft cloth and gently clean them. This will keep the leather of the shoe constantly moist. In the process, the leather will not be easily dried and damaged.
Polish shoes often
Suede, nappa and backsplash require brushing and the use of a splash guard. This will make it waterproof. If you want the sole of the shoe to stay in place, be sure to use a suede brush on a suede shoe. Patent shoes need silicone oil or polish to avoid sticking and cracking.
Keep the shoes in shape
Men’s shoes should be placed on the shoe tree if they are not being worn. Use a shoehorn when applying.
Clean shoes regularly
Use the correct cleaning products on your shoes. The suede sole requires a shoe brush to nap the shoe. Brush from toe to heel only. Suede shoes need a toothbrush or suede brush. Use suede shampoo to remove stains. Brush the shoe from front to back and apply the suede pad.
Leather shoes should be polished once a week and cleaned with a damp cloth. Nubuck shoes are cleaned with a cloth dampened in warm water and a little soap. Then brush from front to back before applying the nubuck bandage. Patent leather shoes should be cleaned with a damp cloth and after drying, a patent bandage. Do not use regular shoe polish. Satin salsa shoes require a clean cloth. Refrain from using shoe polish and acetone on satin shoes.
